Air Conditioning

In normal conversation, when the term air conditioning is mentioned, people automatically take it to mean cooling room temperature. Technically, however, involve the process of controlling air temperature by various means, the ventilation, heating and cooling. In construction, it is known as HVAC.

In 1902, the New York Stock Exchange was the first building to use air conditioners, separately cooledwarms the air. Later this year installed Willis Havilland Carrier, the first electrically-run air conditioning in a print shop. The device not only cooled the air, but also the humidity controlled.

During this time, air conditioning has been primarily in manufacturing facilities to produce goods improved by controlling the effects of moisture, thus increasing employee productivity. It was a few decades later, in the 1950s that real estate and carsbegan to be equipped with air conditioning.

An air conditioner cools the air by a refrigerant, a substance that alters the temperature of the air. In the early stages of its development, air conditioners use harmful gases such as ammonia and methyl chloride as a refrigerant. They were soon replaced by another type of chemical, as the patented substance freon.

Freon is safe for humans. However, it is harmfulfor the environment. When released into the atmosphere, this chlorofluorocarbon gas assumed that a factor in the thinning of the ozone layer. Most air conditioners sold today use this type of gas, particularly the HCFC R-22. It is said that environmentalists have to wait until 2010 to see the total elimination of HCFC R-22 in air conditioning Untis.

Conditioners have different types of refrigeration cycles. The first typea heat pump that pushes hot air out of the room and blows cooled air when a compressor. The second type pumps a refrigerant. When the refrigerant evaporates, it takes so that the hot air and can be air-cooled.
